Critical Environment Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, operate, and maintain mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems supporting data center operations.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, and cooling systems.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies to ensure continuous uptime and system reliability
  • Interpret electrical one-lines, mechanical drawings, operating procedures, and technical documentation to troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance methods of procedure (MOPs), and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
  • Document maintenance activities, incidents, and system conditions accurately using CMMS or maintenance logs.
  • Support vendor activities, inspections, and repairs while ensuring adherence to site safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and critical environment best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities, engineering, and operations teams to complete tasks on schedule and minimize operational risk.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade training preferred.
  • Proven experience in a mission-critical environment such as data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities, or power plants.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution, backup power, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and maintenance documentation practices.
  • Physical ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in confined spaces as required.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
